Subject: Website Inquiry

Just found out about your geocachingontario site and we think its a great idea. We've traveled through Northern Ontario - usually on our way to somewhere else -- and I know there are lots of places and things to see that we've missed in our travels. This sounds like a great way to introduce us to some of these sites.

A couple summers ago we located a cache near Spanish that contained some coupons for discounts at a local merchant and we thought that was a great idea.

A cache here in Sask that we recently visited (in Moose Mountain provincial park) included a number of trail maps and post cards and information on other parks and activities in the area. (And we've also noted that web pages for scenic spots now will (sometimes) include gps coordinates.)

All of these are great ways for us to find wonderful places that we would not otherwise discover - and if we can help support local businesses and communities while doing so - so much the better. (we've occasionally dropped off a local take-out restaurant menu in caches - and picked up ones too -- often we're looking for someplace to eat or shop or have a coffee and don't necessarily know the local area).

One of the Southern Ontario tourism boards ran a contest where you had to visit a number of locations (coordinates provided) - my sister and her husband visited a number of new spots - and then won a pair of binoculars. I'm sure that they will revisit the parks and areas they were introduced to.

We love finding new places to visit - but especially enjoy learning a bit about the area and it's history and its communities... and your site sounds like a new and interesting way for us to do this.

Anyway - all the best on this endeavor - we'll be watching your site, and we'll have some additional waypoints for points of interest on our next trip east...

Dear Bill,

You have introduced me to Geocaching and I am having a great time scooting around Northern Ontario looking for caches. The Northern Ontario Treasure hunt is my first attempt at geocaching and I am hooked. Not only do I have a great time traveling, I also get out into the woods, and at the same time get a chance to win prizes.

Over Christmas, which we spent in Kapuskasing, my wife Joe Ann and I took a side trip to Gowganda (not to be confused with Gogama), and spent 2 nights at Lost Lake Lodge. It was a nice little getaway for us and a chance to find more caches. The folks at Lost Lake were very accommodating.

I check your site regularly in anticipation of new caches. Keep up the good work.

Yours in Geocaching,

Joffre Ribout
