You’ve arrived and found the cache.  Congratulations!

The following is a number of steps we would appreciate being followed:

  • If there are prizes, take one prize and leave your offering. If you didn’t bring a prize, please don’t take one. This is a standard convention for every cache anywhere on our planet. See the suggested list of prizes under Suggested Cache Offerings on the website. Keeping the quality of the prizes at a reasonable level will be the hallmark of the long term success of GPS treasure hunting in Northern Ontario.

  • MOST IMPORTANTLY ensure that you record the Code word, symbol, number or letter from the cache description from the story page or code page. The code is found near the top of the story or this page – Code:

Upon returning to your nearest computer send in the Code on the reporting form. Email to: cache@geocachingontario.ca . You will then be eligible for prizes as seen on the website under the Prizes and Discounts section.

  • Read about the natural and cultural significance of where you are. It’s the learning part of being "with" nature.

  • Sign the logbook and write a comment.

  • Reseal and check the lid for a tight fit. Ensure all cache information is placed back in the cache.

  • Enjoy the surroundings and the "feeling of accomplishment."

  • On your way in/out collect any trash left by others, this always helps the environment. Taking along a container (for broken glass) or a bag for collecting garbage always helps and creates another feeling of the Making A Difference Environmentally (M.A.D.E.) principle.

  • Have a rest, have a snack or picnic, explore the surroundings, take photos and have fun!

  • Explore the nearest community and the discounts provided by local retailers, suppliers and outfitters.

"We appreciate our forests!"
